“It was a pleasure to be with the audience with whom I have so many common ideals and priorities” – said the Ambassador of Italy: Riccardo Guariglia. For the 33rd time, Radom Academy of Economics was hosting the foreign Ambassador. The lecture was given on 24 of April, 2013 on the topic entitled: “Bilateral relations between Poland and the Republic of Italy”.
Poland and the Republic of Italy have been maintaining bilateral relations for many decades. The cooperation started indeed in the Renaissance times when the Polish artists began multiple travels to Italy perusing the educational path. Official relations between Poland and the Republic of Italy were established in 1919. Even though the Polish and Italian armies were fighting in the opposite front sites during the War World II, the Republic of Italy acknowledged the independence of Poland as the first country.
His Excellency, Riccardo Guariglia was highlighting on many occasions that common ideals and the mutual interests of the countries are the good way of deepening the friendly relations that exist. What also contributes to the fact that the mutual relations are amicable are multiple visits of the Italian politicians to Poland in the recent times. The Ambassador also stressed that the present president of Italy: Giorgio Napolitano paid a visit to the Polish president, which made the head of our country among only 3 presidents that were met by Giorgio Napolitano.
When it comes to the economic and social aspects, the Ambassador of Italy highlighted that Italy is the 3 big trade partner and takes one of the top fifth places including our foreign investors. That is why not only common ideals calls for maintaining friendly relations but also it is a strategic move. What is more, Poland and the Republic of Italy are the advocates of the European solidarity as only together we can achieve a success on the international arena.
The lecture ended up in a nice atmosphere with the audience actively participating in the open debate.
