had a pleasure to conduct

EUROPEAN PRE-ELECTION DEBATE

entitled:

Duel of the leaders in the Mazovia region for the 2014 elections to the European Parliament

that was held on

8th of May (Thursday) at 6 pm at RAE

Elections to the European Parliament that will be held very soon in May arise loads of interests among the residents of the Mazovia region, which was proved by the crowds of people that gathered and took part in a debate.

Test of knowledge about the European Parliament, foreign language testing of the candidates, candidates’ goals and objectives for development in the Mazovia region, their vision of their place in the European Union were just a few matters discussed in the debate.

In the following event participated Mr. Witold Tumanowicz from the Election Committee: Ruch Narodowy, Mrs. Anna Kalata from the Election Committee: Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej, Mrs. Małgorzata Gosiewska who replaced the first candidate from the Election Committee: Prawo i Sprawideliwość Mr. Wojciech Jasiński who due to other commitments was unable to take part in the debate, Mr. Andrzej Celiński , the first representative of  the Election Committee Europa Plus Twój Ruch in the Mazovia region, Mr. Marek Czarnecki from the Election Committee: Polska Razem Jarosława Gowina, Mr. Krzysztof Szpanelewski from the Election Committee: Nowa Prawica – Janusza Korwin – Mikke, Mrs. Julia Pitera from the Election Committee: Platforma Obywatelska RP and Mr. Jarosław Kalinowski from the Election Committee: Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe. Mr. Ludwik Dorn  from the Election Committee: Solidarna Polska  Zbigniewa Ziobro could not attend due to other commitments.

First of all, the candidates faced the questions concerning the functioning of the European Union and they did quite well providing mostly correct answers. Second part of the debate focused on the presentation of the candidates’ opinions on excluding Warsaw, the capital of Poland, from the Mazovia region so that more funds from the European Union could be given to poorer regions of the Mazovia. The 3rd panel of the questions let the candidates express their goals and objectives for the development of the Mazovia region in the next decade. However, the most exciting part turned out to be the last stage of the debate, during which the public could address the questions to a particular candidate.

The debate was maintained in a very lively atmosphere. The public actively participated in the all stages of the debate demanding from the candidates precision  concerning mentioned issues.

Radom Academy of Economics, the local Dami TV, the local newspaper: Gazeta Wyborcza seem to recognize the significance of the elections to the European Parliament as well as they pay attention to the present social matters having organized multiple debates in the previous years and this year’s event was just another proof our interests in the social matters has not vanished.
