Ambassador of Sweden with a visit at RAE The Ambassador of Sweden, His Excellency Staffan Herrström visited the students of Radom Academy of Economics giving a lecture on „Equality between men and woman as one of the human rights”.
The lecture started with a presentation of a global view on the problem of equality between men and woman. As the Ambassador said, women have been discriminated for many years, they are becoming the motif of violence that, as a consequence, leads to being in a state of helplessness and unfairness.
What is more, above practices have other consequences. For example, the economy cannot grow steadily if women do not play any important role in a society. “Women still earn less than men, they are given worse job positions, they spend more time at work and they quite often become the victims of violence. If the women’s potential is not used properly, so the….- said the Ambassador of Sweden.
The lecturer also presented the problem of equality in Sweden. It is widely known that Swedenis on the top place in Europewhen it comes to fair and equal rights between women and men. The Swedish are brought up in an atmosphere of equality, this a country where the stereotypes do not work and everyone has the same chances of being successful.
Unfortunately, we cannot say that about Poland. In our country, men still play more significant roles in different spheres of life. Women, on the other hand, are pushed aside. That is why, according to the Ambassador of Sweden, there still a lot to be done when it comes to the problem of equality. The Ambassador of Sweden wished every country striving for equal rights between men and women as only then we have a chance to grow in a fair society where the success and a state of well-being are for everyone.
The lecture ended up with an open debate when the students could address some questions about the raised problems. One of the Erasmus student coming from Nigeria illustrated the problem of inequality between men and woman and admitted that the power in his country is just in men’s hands. The Ambassador of Sweden recommended a long-lasting strife and aiming at developing a fair society. These changes can only be completed when the problem of inequality will be acknowledged by men. He encouraged everyone to fight for equality and we hope that the problem of equal right, regardless of sex, will be improved in every country.
